Cuba Fire Department Inc

Are you interested in joining our department and helping your local community? CFD is always looking for members that can help in any capacity of fire prevention and emergency services. Opportunities are not limited solely to interior firefighting and rescue but also include a vast array of additional services such as fund raising and community education endeavors. As a senior member, we welcome anyone 18 or older. Our junior program consists of 14-17 year old adolescents who are mentored by senior leaders. The following forms and documents can help get you started.

A mandatory New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services arson and sex offender check form must accompany any CFD application for membership consideration.*(New York State Executive Law §837 (effective April 1, 2000) requires that applicants for membership to volunteer fire departments undergo a non-fingerprint criminal history check against the State’s criminal history files maintained by the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) to determine if they stand convicted of the crime of arson in New York State. Effective December 2, 2014, this law was updated to include convictions which require registration as a sex offender only.)

Prospective members must also obtain an Allegany County Firefighter's physical from a certified health care professional clearing them for regular physical duties as an active fire department member. Those who have already completed this physical may supply proper documentation with the application.

Lastly, prospective CFD members are also expected to read the most current addition available of CFD's constitution and bylaws as well as Cuba Joint Fire District's rules and regulations and policies. These bylaws and policies are subject to change without notice; members are responsible for familiarizing themselves with any new bylaw or policy changes.
